It's important to note that hardware version 4.3 necessitates the use of new firmware to ensure optimal functionality. For those utilizing Heltec’s development framework, be sure to update both the board package and the LoRa library to their latest versions via GitHub. When working with Meshtastic, make sure you are using firmware version 2.7.20 or higher, while for MeshCore, firmware version 1.15.0 or higher is required.

🔘 Bootloader Mode for Flashing: For successful firmware flashing, users must ensure the board is in Bootloader mode. To do this, connect a USB-C cable, hold down the PRG button, press the RST button once, then release the PRG button before proceeding with the flashing process. Once complete, don’t forget to restart the device.

  • Firmware Flashing Issues: If you fail to flash the firmware or upload code, ensure you are in Bootloader mode. Additionally, consider switching your USB data cable or changing the port on your computer to resolve connectivity issues.
  • Screen Display Settings: For those using Meshtastic, be aware that the “Meshtastic UI” is only compatible with touchscreen interfaces. If you are utilizing an ordinary OLED screen, refrain from selecting this option to avoid display issues.

LNA Configuration: With hardware version 4.3 and later, users have the ability to enable or disable the Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) through the Meshtastic interface. Navigate to the “System” → “LoRa” settings on the device to make your selection. In contrast, MeshCore version 1.15.0 default enables LNA and does not allow for modification.
