💍 Installation is a straightforward process, requiring minimal tools and mechanical know-how. Follow these steps for a successful setup:
- Safety First: Begin by disconnecting the negative (-) battery cable to ensure safety during installation.
- Install Temperature Sender: Position the included temperature sender at a suitable location. You may need to drill a hole and use the included adaptor nut to secure it properly. Ensure there is enough clearance for both the nut and sender. Proper grounding is essential; the sender should automatically ground when installed, but if it does not, be sure to establish a good ground connection.
- Wiring: Route the included 18-gauge twin conductor wire through the firewall using a grommet for a clean installation. Connect one end to the terminal post on the temperature sender and the opposite end to the sender (S) terminal on the back of the gauge. Note: Avoid touching ignition wires to the sender (S) terminal as this could damage the sender.
- Ground the Gauge: Connect the wire from the center terminal (GND -) on the back of the gauge to a reliable engine ground located near the sender.
- Ignition Connection: Link a wire from the ignition switch to the 'ignition (I)' terminal on the back of the gauge, facilitating the gauge's operation when the vehicle is running.
- Lighting the Gauge: Install a light in the back of the temperature gauge and connect it to the dashboard lighting circuit or another 12V power source, ensuring visibility at night.
- Final Steps: Once all connections are made, safely reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
